Fourier Systems Launches High-Powered and Cost-Effective Computing Solution for the K-12 Market

NovaCentro™ Offers Educators and Students Complete Learning Solution in a New Clamshell Design

NEW ALBANY, IND. (June 25, 2008) - Fourier Systems, Ltd., a global provider of science and one-to-one computing solutions for the education market, has launched a new high-powered and cost-effective computing solution in the Nova product line. Based on the same durability and flexibility offered by the Nova5000, the NovaCentro features a lightweight clamshell design, fast processor, memory, and bundled software, providing educators and students with the tools they need to master the skills necessary to thrive in the 21st Century.

"The Nova5000 offers students and educators with a great price-performing option - with color touch screen for space saving and easy maintenance. Based on the success of the Nova5000 in the last two years, the NovaCentro gives users the same powerful student computing solution in a familiar laptop design," said Dov Bruker, CEO of Fourier Systems. "The clamshell case with built-in keyboard and mouse pad allows students to practice and master their digital skills on a platform they are comfortable with and eager to use. Our goal is to prepare students to succeed in the global work force, and learning the curriculum with the NovaCentro helps build the skills they need to succeed."

Providing solutions with high Return-on-Investments, Fourier Systems works to design complete learning packages, eliminating a school’s need to expend additional funds on application software. To this end, the development team partners with several leading education companies. Office suite, graphing/calculating, management, assessment, concept mapping, and search engine software come bundled with the Nova5000, including software from It’s About Time, LanSchool, LearnStar, Inspiration, Thinkronize/netTrekker d.i., MathResources, GoKnow Learning, and Netsweeper.

Helping educators, technology coordinators and students to teach, facilitate and learn at their own pace, the NovaCentro features a fast 624 MHz processor and ample internal memory (128 MB of RAM), allowing a large number of files and applications to be utilized.

Fourier Systems also designed the NovaCentro to provide 256 MB NAND of Flash memory and to be a low-power consumption device with an 8-hour battery life. The generous amount of RAM and storage, coupled with a speedy processor and long battery life, provide users with an authentic computing and learning experience, offering quick access to files and fast online browsing.

The NovaCentro features a 2-D graphic accelerator for improved display performance, encouraging students and educators to utilize streaming video and multimedia tools in conjunction with curriculum-based activities, especially for science and math experiments. The accelerator enhances multimedia and video playback capabilities for in-class, lab or fieldwork. The NovaCentro also includes a built-in microphone and stereo speaker, allowing students to create podcasts and participate in videoconferencing-based activities across the curriculum.

Weighing only 2.4 lbs and running either the Linux or Windows CE operating system, the NovaCentro is being offered by Fourier Systems as a low total cost-of-ownership device for under $500.
