This month newsletter focuses on three diverse case studies taken from Australia, the UK and Israel. In each case local software has been developed for the Nova5000 to meet very specific needs. The Woodland Education Center in the UK has developed a dynamic and interactive environmental program that allows students to discover woodland and wildlife. My Voice is communication board software built specifically for the Nova5000 and aimed to help children struggling with varying levels of communication disabilities as a result of diseases ranging from autism to cerebral palsy. Finally we talk to a veteran science teacher in New South Wales, Australia who has helped pioneer the development of LAMS software for the Nova5000. Again, the Nova5000 has been found to be a unique and ideal platform for this learning management system which guides students through a series of experiences and evaluations. We'd also like to highlight the Nova5000's Citrix capability, an important application given the number of schools and companies worldwide who require Citrix support.
By installing the Citrix client onto the Nova5000, you have easy access to your Citrix server. Many schools use the Citrix platform because it simplifies information access at a lower cost, while still providing a high level of control and flexibility. This further enables Nova5000 to provide a complete and end-to-end solution for schools while working cohesively with their existing IT platforms. The Citrix client is available for download from the Nova5000 software page: http://nova5000.fourier-sys.com/software.php.
Woodland Education Center Case Study: Q3Rangers Discovering the Environment with Nova5000
Steve Lawson is the Trust Director of the Offwell Woodland and Wildlife Trust, situated on the south coast of England in Devon. The Trust runs the Woodland Education Centre in partnership with the Forestry Commission. Trained staff lead structured activities in natural habitats. Science, IT, Geography and English are integrated into practical activities for all levels. Mr. Lawson began his career in agriculture and established the Woodland Education Centre in 1986. We talked to Mr. Lawson about the specific environmental learning program he has developed for the Nova5000.
Learning Activity Management System LAMS Being Developed with the Nova5000
John Willis of New South Wales, Australia, has in his own words "enjoyed teaching science for 40 years", although retired he is still very involved in education, even more so now he has discovered that the Nova5000 works beautifully with LAMS (Learning Activity Management System).
