Nova5000 School Pilot Success Calls for National Implementation

In January Fourier conducted a key pilot for the Nova5000 in Turkey. Initially the teachers, accustomed to more traditional laboratories and already juggling pressured timetables were concerned. They expected 1:1 computing would eat out of class time in learning curve, downtime and batteries running out. However, the week long Lab experience that was run in a leading Ankara school was received very favorably by both the educators and the local Turkish press. The Pilot was considered a success specifically in science teaching and less than half a year later the government plans to extend the program in two directions, both in subject and geographical scope.

I Love My Nova5000 Because...

Developed by Fourier, Nova Paint is a drawing tool which allows you to create simple or elaborate drawings. These drawings are in color, and can be saved as bitmap, jpeg, gif or png files. It is very similar to the Microsoft Paint application. You can also use Nova Paint to draw on picture files, which you've saved on your Nova5000. Ido Bruker aged 8 years old did this drawing on his Nova5000 using Paint and here's what he told us...

"I used the stylus to draw this picture - I used some straight lines and some I drew free hand. I used the circle and square shapes and lines tools when I knew I couldn't draw it straight enough. I used the paint bucket to make the picture background blue and now my dad is going to save my drawing as his Nova desktop wallpaper."

If you want to tell us why you love your Nova5000 we'll be happy to include it in next month's newsletter.
