This year's 26th annual National Education and Computing Conference (NECC), had a record breaking attendance of 13,400 educators! The Fourier booth was particularly busy this year with many visitors who came to see the numerous Presentations by Fourier staff but also from the wide range of our partners including Math Resources, LanSchool, LearnStar and GoKnow.

The much anticipated inaugural meeting of the Nova Learning Alliance took place, whose collaborative commitment is to the promotion of a complete Learning Environment with the Nova5000. Further details can be found below.

The Press were very excited with the way Fourier's Research and Development have been responding to feedback from educators and the media with consistent improvements in the Nova5000. They, along with educators at NECC, were very impressed with what they saw at this show - increased battery life, improved LCD screen brightness, many new applications such as NZip, PDF Viewer and Sound Recorder as well as all the added value bundled software that just keeps growing.

In Russia over the last 5 years, digital science laboratories for Biology, Chemistry and Physics equipped with Fourier Systems data loggers and digital probes have reached more than 200,000 students a year. Recently, the labs were greatly enhanced with the introduction of 6,900 Nova5000 machines equipped with 60,000 assorted probeware that are being used in more than 600 schools. The schools that received Nova5000 range from big, well known cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg, to much more remote locations throughout Russia such as Khanti-Mansiisk. This town in Western Siberia with 70,000 people makes up only 1% of Russia's population and yet produces 57% of the country's oil. The town lays claim to many new and impressively furnished public buildings including schools where students' learning is enabled by the Nova5000.

The Nova5000 Biology experiment book has 30 student experiments divided into five subject groups: Plant Physiology, Cell Processes, Microorganisms, Human Physiology, and Environment.

The Nova5000 Chemistry experiment book presents more than twenty key Chemistry experiments in endothermic reactions, acid-base titration, oxidation and energy contents of food to name just a few.
