Leading Secondary Singapore School uses the Nova5000 in Award Winning Project

Commonwealth Secondary School, a government secondary school in Singapore, has recently applied the Nova5000 in a groundbreaking school water recycling environmental project. The school has positioned itself as a caring and vibrant learning organization that ignites passion, inspires excellence and illuminates new frontiers. The following transcript is from a local newspaper article that describes the project that has won the school a gold award for the project concept in reducing the school’s carbon footprint. The Minister of Education in Singapore, Dr Ng Eng Heng will officiate over the outcome of the project and recognize the contribution and effort of this school in this meaningful project.  Among the sensors used in this project were turbidity, nitrate, potassium and soil moisture.

Probe of the Month: Oxygen Sensor

This month's Probe of the Month is the Oxygen sensor (DT222A) which consists of galvanic oxygen sensitive electrode with a processing unit (Oxygen adaptor, equipped with a calibration knob). The sensor can measure % O2 in air and Oxygen concentration in aqueous solutions. Select the range directly from the data logger or via the MultiLab software. Calibrate the sensor before every measurement.

This month's free experiment download is the: Respiration Rate of Germinating Seeds: Measurement with Oxygen Sensor DT222A.

In this experiment amounts of O2 vs. Time consumed during respiration of swollen seeds of pea are measured, using an Oxygen sensor. In addition the respiration rate of the seed will be calculated.
